Preparations

In the Army, we have all kinds of preparations for deployment. We train for all kinds of things that come up. All basic soldiers tasks, tasks specific to theater, survival techniques, cultural skills, and so much more.

Maybe the most important thing that we train for now that lacked moreso in the first deployment is preparing for the emotional and psychological toll that deployment causes for the family. I've learned so much more about communication, patience, openness, and overall just what to expect during the deployment.

Even though these things may not directly affect our skills over there, the impact that they have on performance and effectiveness I am certain will be well worth the time learning.
